Social Media Spotlight: Get-A-Game

26 Oct

social media marketing, social media management, progressive media conceptsThis Wednesday, we are happy to inform our readers on how app developers can build awareness for their new product by using social media marketing.  Get-A-Game is a free app that connects people looking for pickup games and sport play. Whether it’s basketball in Brooklyn, soccer in Salem, or wiffle ball in White Plains, the mobile app gives you all the tools you need to live an active lifestyle. We had the pleasure of speaking with Dan Tashman about the new app, and here’s what he had to say…

What social media platforms do you currently use?

D: We use Facebook, Twitter, WordPress for our blog, YouTube, LinkedIn, and for our profile pages. We also use HootSuite to help manage them all from one screen.

What value, if any, has social media provided for your business?

D: As a startup, Social Media is our introduction to new users. It lets us tell a story about our product and interact with our user community. Social media helps us create and refine our brand image and receive information about our target audience and community.

Which social media platform works best for your business? Why?

D: As a recent startup, we haven’t yet identified which platform will serve us best in the long run. It’s like having 5 different fishing lines out. Whichever line “bites first” will tell us where we should concentrate.

How has social media impacted your business in terms of marketing and sales?

D: Social media allows us many different ways to get our message out. Get-A-Game is all about access to living an active lifestyle, so our social media presence reflects that through original content, sport related events, and relevant info on staying active.

Do you have any advice for companies who are on the fence about social media?

D: There is no fence. There is no difference between eMarketing and Marketing. It has become the standard. I wouldn’t think of launching a new product without social media support

Is there any social media strategy that you would like to improve or do differently?

D: I think with the introduction of NFC and wireless wallets, we are going to see qualitative shift in how social media interacts with us, as well as how we interact with it. I’m looking forward to seeing the industry take shape over the next few months and next few years.

Dan makes excellent points about using social media for business purposes. It’s always great to see social media being used to get feedback from the consumer, as well as information about a company’s target audience. His content strategy is also very well thought-out. Instead of posting solely about the app, he uses related articles and information about sports and an active lifestyle to engage his followers. Dan really gets his social media marketing!
