Social Media Crumbles a Presidential Regime

Progressive Media Concepts - Social Media Marketing and Management By now there is a good chance you have heard about the civil uproars going on in Egypt and the violence that has ensued. In a world connected primarily by social media networks, it only makes sense that activists would use these networking mediums as a tool to rally protestors and support from around the world in order to achieve freedom from an Authoritarian rule.

Last week in The Power of Social Media, I spoke about the importance of social media in today’s society, as well as in the Egyptian activists’ planning stages of the recent protests. The use of Internet and social media networks was censored and eventually shut down for a brief period of time compliments of President Mubarak and his Cabinet. To the surprise of some, this strategy backfired and the protestors rallied back stronger than ever.
